The Azusa Pacific Bel
Canto Women's Choir will perform a special concert at CPCLM on
Sunday, January
31st at 4:00 PM
The Bel Canto Women's Choir brings
to life a wide variety of contemporary Christian music, gospel songs,
spirituals, a cappella arrangements, and classical music.
Building on the group's 30-year heritage, the 60-voice-strong ensemble
travels extensively, entertaining and ministering to thousands of people
worldwide. Most recently, Bel Canto appeared as the featured guest
on The Hour of Power at Garden Grove's Crystal Cathedral and in
Disneyland's Community Artist's Showcase, performed Benjamin Britten's
A Ceremony of Carols and Vivaldi's Gloria, and toured
orphanages and churches in Romania.
Under the expert direction of David
Hughes, DMA, Bel Canto Women's Choir books more than 25 performances
each year and boasts numerous custom recordings.
Note: A free-will offering will be
received and gifted to the Bel Canto Choir.
A dinner reception will be served
in Jenks Hall after the concert. The dinner is free for the choir
members. For anyone else the cost is $5.00. Reservations for
the dinner must be submitted no later than Thursday

Reception for Bob and Judy Cassell
The Reverend Robert T.
Cassell was installed as Interim Pastor by The Presbytery of Los Ranchos
in 2006. Bob commenced his interim ministry at CPCLM on October 1.
Judy has also been actively involved in the choir during these past 29
months. The congregation will be officially recognizing their
service to CPCLM at a reception in their honor after Worship Services.
Thank you Bob and Judy and may God bless you abundantly as you continue
life's journey.

Susan Thampi
in a light Christmas Concert.
Susan hails from Kerela, India, and
began her music career in choral and sacred music. She debuted at
Carnegie Hall at the age of 16 where she was the soloist for Bach's
"Magnificat" with the Clovis West Chamber Singers. She majored in
Classical Vocal Arts at the Thornton School of Music at USC. She
has appeared in many music festivals throughout the country and
performed in over a dozen opera productions and musical theatre.
Aside from solo performances and opera, she has always been heavily
involved in the choral world.
Everyone is invited to the Salad Bar
Luncheon--bring a salad to share and enjoy sampling the beautiful array
of Christmas salads others have made. Please make a reservation on
December 7 in Jenks Hall following worship or call the church office by
December 7.

There will be a reception in Jenks Hall following the recital.
Gayle is a vocalist, spiritual director
and teacher. She has shared her faith through song in churches and
homes. She sang leading roles with professional companies for 10
years. As a spiritual director she companions people in their
journey with God. She has been a vocal instructor since 1980.

AM Worship Service: At
Community Presbyterian Church of La Mirada, we designate the third
Sundays of the month as "Music Sundays" in order to honor God's gift of
music. Guest musicians from our church and the community are
invited to share their talents with us during worship services.
Selection of musicians is based on performance ability musical
credentials, personal education in music, contribution to the music
education of others and the local community. This month we honor
as our guest musician Lauren Ruiz-Mendoza, a talented young
vocalist. She will sing Alabaster Box (Nathan Saben),
His Eye Is On the Sparrow (Civilla D. Martin) and Remember Who
You Are (Crystal Lewis).
Lauren Ruiz-Mendoza is a native of
Los Angeles, where she attends the Los Angeles County High School for
the Arts. She is finishing her junior year and looks forward to
attending a music conservatory upon graduation. She enjoys singing
Jazz, pop, and gospel.
Lauren performed as a member of her high school
Vocal Jazz Ensemble at the Monterey Jazz Festival where they placed
first in 2007 and second in 2008. She performed at Disney Hall
with the school's Concert Choir with actress Christin Chenowith, star of
the Broadway musical "Wicked". Lauren has performed at the La
Mirada Salute to Veterans as well as at the Forth of July Celebration in
the Park for the City of La Mirada.
Please join us August 17 as we celebrate God's
gift of music.
