Deacons are elected by
the congregation of Community Presbyterian Church of La Mirada (CPCLM)
for a term of 3 years and can serve for no more than 6 consecutive years
without a break in service.

MEMBERS AND FRIENDS
To nurture and care for
members and regular visitors, each Deacon is assigned a “Flock” of
between 9 and 11 church families and individuals for the purpose of
keeping in touch. This is accomplished personally, by telephone or
personal notes offering help, if needed, and opportunities for
fellowship.
HOLY COMMUNION
The Board of Deacons is
responsible for preparing the elements of Holy Communion which is
observed the first Sunday monthly at CPCLM.
CARING RECEPTIONS
Memorial receptions are
hosted by the Deacons following funeral and memorial services for church
members.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
In addition to caring
for our church members and friends of CPCLM, the Deacon Board reaches
out to community charities and regularly donates funds to Meals on
Wheels, the Interfaith Food Center, and the American Red Cross. Funds
for these local and community projects comes from voluntary giving the
first Sunday of each month through the “green” Deacon envelopes in the
pews.
