Our
Past: The Community
Presbyterian Church of La Mirada (CPCLM) was reborn on January 5, 1992,
from the merger of the Mount Olive Presbyterian Church (founded in 1954)
and the La Mirada Presbyterian Church (founded in 1955). The reborn
Church sold the old facilities and built a beautiful new campus which
was dedicated on December 3, 1995. The small stained glass windows in
the back of the sanctuary are from the original churches and remind us
of the legacy of the past. The large stained glass “resurrection
window” in the front, designed by a member of the congregation, reminds
us that we serve a risen Lord who leads us into the future. Sections of
the window were given in memory of members and friends of CPCLM
In our fellowship hall
(Jenks Hall) there is a plaque showing pictures of clergy
leaders of the two former churches for the period of time leading up to
our merger. On that plaque is the following scripture:
“I
always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel…
Being confident in this, that He who
began a good work in you will
Carry it on to completion…”
Philippians 1: 4-6
Our
Present & Future: The ministries at CPCLM
began a new and exciting era on February 22,
2009 when The Reverend Jason Ko was called to become our pastor.
He and his wife Cathy and three adorable children are a gift from the
Lord to our church and to La Mirada and the surrounding community.
Jason believes that God primarily uses the church as the agent of change
locally, nationally and worldwide. CPCLM is experienceing an
exhilarating newness of spirit under his leadership. Thank you
Lord for leading Jason to CPCLM!!
